Even if it were a top show dog, a beloved pet, with a well-known
pedigree, the reality is that there would likely be no choice but to
euthanize the dog.

Many cities' ordinances, as well as ever-tightening rules by homeowners
insurance companies, make it difficult, if not impossible, for one to
keep a "dangerous" dog. That may have been an option years ago, but it
is becoming less and less of one.

Some insurance companies are even "blacklisting" some breeds. Pyrs have
not made these lists yet, and let's hope it stays that way. It would
probably not take too many incidents like this for that to happen.
