Re: [pyrnet] How cold is too cold

Hi all, I've been lurking for months but never post. (Hope you don't mind!) I
have a 3-year-old Pyr/Maremma cross who absolutely loves cold weather. As I
live in Florida it doesn't get frigid here, but Juma loves the colder
temperatures and has even been fast asleep outside in 20-degree weather with a
biting wind. She stays inside at night but I'm sure would love to be outside
all night in nippy weather. If she ever is uncomfortable outside, she knows
that she needs only to stand at the kitchen door and bark and we'll let her in.
(This happens more often in our hot Florida summers, when she gets bored with
her kiddie pool and wants to get inside to the air conditioning.) She seems to
"come alive" in wintertime when she's not stifled by our oppressive heat.

These dogs are built for cold weather, and they have a wonderful layer of fur to
keep them comfortable. Their response to cold weather is surely different from
a human's response.
