Re: [pyrnet] I just received this RE: Virus

Currently Norton is the best, IMHO. It is what I insist all my clients use.
I find it easier and more seamless then McAfee. However, 4 years ago just
the reverse was true. McAfee was much better.
Both programs do an excellent job and keep good updates and alerts
available.

It is true there are fewer viruses that attack Mac's but they are there.

When you set up your Norton, you will have the option to enable automatic
update. This allows Norton to go out and check for virus updates everything
you go out online (dial up) or check at about one week intervals if you are
on Cable or DSL (always online). Be sure to create your Rescue Disks and
then store them. Recreate the Disks about every three to six months
depending on how much you use your computer. Recreate them whenever you make
a major change in your registry (change monitors, printers, Operating
Systems, etc.).

If you work behind a firewall, the first time Norton Anti-virus tries to go
out and access the internet you will get a warning. Most firewalls give the
option to allow the access always, never or this time only. With Norton I
would recommend the always.

Hope this helps
