Thank you for asking the question Nina, it is appalling that this shelter would not consider more time for these guys especially as people are asking for that extra time to gather a team of helpers to save them.... Did they say how long they had been with them, considering he said that 5 days was a long as they give for the owners to find them? I did pass the original email onto the greatpyrenees@yahoo group but nobody has responded as yet. The Colli x Pyr is a beautiful dog I hope that he can be helped as well...Thanks to all of you for trying so hard for these gorgeous creatures..I can't bear to think of their plight..I hope it isn't too late!!!! You people are brilliant I cannot say enough how wonderful you are..keeping all of our paws crossed here in Nova Scotia...God luck!!!!!!!!!

Here is the response that I got, when I asked for more time .....
Hi Nina: Thank you for your kind heart. I wish "time" were in my control. I am one of the volunteers that does petfinder photos and email. I am not an Animal Control Officer not member of City/County government so I can't decide who dies nor allow more time for any pet. In truth with a small shelter like ours "somebody" has to die to make space and KY law requires the new ones to have 5 days for their owners to find them. Sometimes with lots of new arrivals the only "old ones" are ones that might get adopted but they just run out of time. That's pretty much the story here. I think late this afternoon there were 4 kennels vacant due to euthanasia. If 4 dogs come in and none are adopted out space will be made.....
I am sorry I have no control.
