I think she was telling us that she was responsible not to be in her crate and that she needs to guard us.
Seems understandable why a dog who is trying to guard you would want to be out of a crate to do her job well. You must be MUCH safer with Kiah free to roam as she sees fit. I hope she's satisfied to chew only on her chew toys.
