[WW] Game Systems
perception is everything i guess. how well you know a system can determine
just how 'annoying' players find it. i have run alot of different systems
over the years (try running AFTERMATH some time, fun concept but -
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhggggggggg) and find that the game can be quick
and easy or it can be stocked and complex yet still fun once everyone
understands the basics. i mean, if you stop to think aobut it, 2E AD&D was a
very complex system (at least for those of us who grew up on the old '70s
D&D game rules). every once in a while (a few times a year) i run a STAR
FRONTIERS campaign (for my "pulp scifi" shoot 'em up players) and several of
them find that game complex (ya, right!). but because i know the rules by
heart, it's a breeze for me. in the long run, running any game can be
confusing as each has it's different rules (even within those various d20
games out there) and unless everyone in your group has spent 20+ years in
gaming, there is going to have some confusion. sit down some time with some
of your local gamers (not necessarily ones in your group) and casually chat
about the rules. as questions. get clarifications and opinions of others.
sit in on another game group for a few sessions. your perception of game
elements will change.
i'm rambling. i'll stop now...
...the rich
"you know you shouldn't smoke. it's not good for you."
"it's ok. i only smoke after sex."
"well that's good."
" 'bout a pack a day."
--------->can you name that movie?
