Re: [DL] Japanese in DL

thank you, thank you, thank you!!

that is the name of the movie that i've been trying to remember for the past several weeks. i was hoping that samurai were covered in DL but the closest thing would be the kung fu powers detailed in the Great Maze i believe (which i don't have). anyone have any info that would help in creating a samurai, or most likely a ronin depending on how many Japanese warlords there are in the Weird West? kung fu wouldn't quite fit the samurai image as they were mainly known as sword fighters. though they did practice hand to hand fighting most of this was basic karate and judo not the "monkey dances with river otter" kung fu moves :/ in the past they were also accomplished horseback riders who could fight from the saddle with sword or spear and could also use the bow. i'm not sure of the status of samurai at the time of the Weird West but i believe they were mainly foot soldiers though i'm sure they can still fight from horseback rather well. i've read a few web sites detailing the main points in the history of the samurai. one thing i remember most clearly is that around this time the emperor of Japan outlawed the carrying of swords basically disbanding the samurai class. this could be a major motivation for a character to travel to the WW. samurai IMHO would be a great challenge and most interesting character to have on board your posse. definitely see this movie (Red Sun) if you have even the faintest interest in a similar character. it's not only good, it's good for ya!
