I think you can do just about anything from smith and 
Robarbs as well as any other MS gizmo without useing 
Ghost Rock, with the exception of things like ghost 
steel and ghost rock vapor cannons. The big renisance 
in science caused by ghost rock is that its burns 
longer and hotter then coal so that steam engins can 
be built with smaller boilers and don't use up fuel 
hauling big loads of fuel.

What the indian might be pissed off about is the 
manitous hangin around the MS whispering ideals in 
his head, (such as kill that interfearing savage) 
your system might work for coming up with orginal 
ideas and plans that don't use manitou inspired 
shortcuts.

If the MS goes this route I would think the 
reliability would go up since he's taking the time to 
test things rather then whipping up something that he 
just thought of.
