Re: [PyrNet-L] CHAT: Pyr that bit

I have another 2 cents to put in here - this is not necissarily so, it
depends on the kid and how the parents handle it. I know kids that are
terrified of dogs and even their parents don't know why and I know
others that are fearless when it comes to dogs and their parents are
afriad and don't know why. There is a young girl here that was severly
bitten by the family dog, the first thing she asked when she came home
from the hospital was where the dog was(dad had dog put down) and can
they get another one after she was told the dog was gone.

I have been at shows with spectators that allow their children to walk
up to the dogs and not even ask the owners if they can pet them. I've
seen children sticking fingers in crates when backs are turned. Even
after counseling these parents that this is not the thing to let their
children do - they still let them. What I'm trying to say here is while
I don't condone the biting and look at that dog as one that needs to be
evaluated, I'd also have to look at how this child was taught to behave
around dogs. Yes, my kids know better - but so do their friends because
they have been taught.
