[PyrNet-L] OT - Need Computer Help

Villagers,

Help!!! My computer is in desperate need of technical help and none of the
technical support people I have contacted have answered e-mails or phone
messages.  I have an Acer Aspire (no flames please, I already know it is a
dud)! Pentium about 2.5 years old.  Here is a short list of the problems:

1.  Can't run ScanDisk from Windows 95 - have to do it from DOS
2.  When I need to reboot for what ever reason after properly shutting down,
the printer prints a line of "D" across the top of a piece of paper.  HP 6
Laser.  Does not do this when connected to my IBM Aptiva at work or my
fiance's Acer.

3.  When I reboot it always comes up with messages about problems with
Scheduler and a Register.  When I click on "OK" it continues the reboot
process and I can use the computer.

So, should I throw this piece of worthless junk in the Monocacy River or is
there hope?  Can I just reload Windows 95 or install Windows 98 and would that
fix any of this?  How do I clean up the hard drive to take off the garbage?
How do I know what is garbage and what I need to keep?

Help!  I need my computer for all my dog activities.
