I agree Barb, we have the five dogs, 3 house cats, 2 P. B. Pigs, 2 birds,
a pet rat, goldfish ( fancy big type), care is exercised with all, but we
never have problems.  As I write this my daughter just brought in six
baby rats, my son found in a flooded hole under the chicken coop.  I
suppose she will attempt to keep them going until they can manage on
their own.  Her fist pet mouse was a field mouse whose family got turned
over and killed in the garden.  It survived, and Blaze was a sweet thing,
with a long life as mice go.  Cyn.
