UMM, I hate to say it, but I wouldn't count too much on him keeping near you
when you let him out, unless he is on a lead.  That independent streak is a
mile wide in most Pyrs, and they tend to be quite notorious for NOT sticking
by you (and NOT coming back to you when you call them!!).  As for water - I
have a dam on my property and given the chance, my dogs would spend half the
day every day in there, playing and wading.  If I don't want wet dogs, I
have to keep them away from that part of the property.  If they are in that
paddock, they are in the dam!!!
