Re: [PyrNet-L] size

While I don't really qualify as a "long-time breeder" (having had my
last litter over 17 years ago) I did breed a long time ago. And
we were lucky enough to start with the offsrping of Pierre. Unlike
Ruth, however, I felt confident that I had plenty of size. But
it is something to guard - like any other characteristic of the
breed, like the eye set or tail carriage. My first two breedings
had plenty of size, but each litter after this produced smaller and
smaller dogs. Still well within standard, but not like Pierre's
issue.

There is absolutely no reason to believe that you cannot
have large, sound Pyrs. Pierre was a perfect example. I was going
out for pigment and "type", not soundness, when I lost my size.

Delighted to find that Ruth did so much better at this then we did.
Love those big Pyrs.
