my dog will NOT make a friend on a leash. never, no way, she is too
protective of me. so when we do take her walking on leash and another dog
comes running up to her to "play" i usually yell someting like "get your
dog, please call your dog, my dog is not alwasy friendly"

the good thing is that sequoia (my 1/2 lab, 1/2 pyr) will ignore other
dogs. Unless they really start with her. she does not like little dogs who
jump in her face, but has recently made a friend with a 3 mo. old lab. she
even lets the puppy ride in the back of our truck with her. but rose, the
pup, knows her limits with sequoia, but other fun loving dogs at the bird
sanctuary do NOT know limits with sequoia.

so...yes..if ALL the dogs were on leashes it would solve a lot of these
problems.

i have not yet determined what to do if i have S. on the leash and she gets
scrappy with another dog, do i pull her off and hope the other owner shows
up to ull his dog off, or do i let her off the leash and let the dogs work
it out? some of you might think OBVIOUSLY pull her off, but i am new at
this, and just want opinions so i can be informed...my husband said that he
doesn't think S. would ever seriously hurt another dog, she will just fight
until the other dog backs off and realized she is boss. my friend who owner
S. before me said the only time she had to pull her off another dog was
when the other dog was a pyr...

please advise
