Re: [PyrNet-L] Sniffing.

About all this sniffing our pyrs do, my breeder had a lady come over who
wore heavy perfume and the dogs would have nothing to do with her. Breeder
couldn't understand this. I told her to tell the lady to stop wearing such
heavy perfume cause it masked her own natural body smell and that is what
the dogs are sniffing for. They tell each other apart by their own body
smell and that is what they do to us when they sniff around on us. Their
noses are hundreds more times sensitive than ours and they smell things we
can't even imagine that could be picked up by our noses.

Our pyrs are smarter by far than we are when it comes to judging the
trustworthiness of anybody that we let into our homes. I have learned to
trust the judgement of my pyr--if he doesn't like somebody, get that person
out of there, pronto. Shylo will pester anybody he doesn't think is good
for me to be around. He will constantly run between that person and me and
will definitely step between me and that person to keep them from me.
