Re: Re(2): [pyrnet] ANOTHER Pyr jumping fence

 Hi and HELP

My 10 month old pyr just started jumping our fence. It is a big problem for
us because he also has separation anxiety and must be left outside otherwise
he destroys the house. if left in his crate he cries and soils himself (not
fun to come home to.) We have had him on clomicalm for two months with no
improvement and he has senn a dog behaviorist and goes to group dog obedience
training once a week. he is absolutely wonderful in every other way except
for the separation anxiety.....the fence thing started with the big snow
storm and we have been leaving him on our fenced deck for the past few weeks.
Today, he just started jumping over that fence too.

We plan to install a new chain link fence as soon as the weather improves.
How high should the fence be? We were thinking 8 feet. Any comments or
advice would be appreciated. Do pyrs typically dig themselves out of
fenced areas. Our dog has not exhibited digging tendencies, but he is
creative and we have started calling him houdini dog.

This is a huge problem for us and we don't want him to get hit by a car.
If we cannot solve this problem with the new fence we may have to find a new
home for him because I am concerned about his safety.

Please Help!
Lisa
