To be honest, no ... I don't know very much about terrified dogs.  The two
pyrs that we adopted came with some problems that we have been able to
overcome through patience, establishing trust and time.  We may be lucky
though.
It's too bad you can't find out more about her past.  I completely
understand your concern.  If it were me, I'd probably take her in as long as
she wasn't aggressive or showing signs of fear biting.  That really is a
tough call.  It could be a very rewarding experience if you were able to
rehabilitate her, or a heartbreaking one if she had to be given up again or
put down.

Sorry I can't be of more help.  Someone else on this chat group probably can
help you though.
