Re: [pyrnet] Re: Removing Double Dews

Bridget,
Keep the questions coming...we all had to get the answers to the same questions
at some point. That's what is great about a list like this. Everyone has
questions, and it is great to be able to benefit from the experience of other
Pyr owners.

About frequent bathing I would think that bathing once a week could cause the
coat and skin to get too dry. What do others think about this? It is my
impression that the reason that Pyrs don't stink like so many other dogs is that
their coat is not oily. I've forgotton how old your dog is. I do know that
puppy coat (fuzzy, fluffy)seems to absorb dirt more than the harsher adult
coat. I do tend to wash puppies more often than I do the adult dogs. How about
spraying the dog with water in a spray bottle and toweling him dry to get
surface dirt off?. (I once heard that a good way to grow coat was to spray
distilled water on a dog every day while brushing. I went as far as buying a
bottle of distilled water but never got around to using it on the dog).
