[pyrnet] brushing

I'm curious as to what some of you use to brush you pyrs with. I have a male
who is going to show this fall, and I would like to keep as much of his coat
as possible. I've always used a pin brush, as I've been told pin brushes
break off less hair than slickers, and rakes. I have a rake which I only use
when my prys blow their coats. I've never used any of the large combs. The
major down side I've found with pin brushes is that they don't last, I've
gone through 3 already this year with the matting the pins connect to pulling
out. If I could find a brand that's made to last, I would certainly buy one.
I also read that you should brush your pyrs before bathing, but was watching
a show on animal planet on Afgan hounds. The way they get the long coat is
to only brush the dogs while they're wet. The show stated that this kept the
coat from breaking off. Any thoughts if this would work the same with pyrs?
