Re: [pyrnet] Gordon's quest

Why thank you kind sir, but I'm afraid I need to go North. I like
the cold. <G> I have/had 3 aged Pyrs myself. B.B. lived until 9
1/2 (she was dysplastic in one hip and could not make it past
that due to severe arthritis) Molly, who lived a bit past 12
years (she had degenerative myelopathy of the spine and could no
longer live with not being able to walk on her back end, although
some Pyrs accept this quite well as there is no pain involved.
With Molly, her mental state deteriorated and she was no longer
happy) and Bo, who will be 11 in December and is still going
strong. I could not imagine giving up my dogs. I'd move mountains
to keep them (and I have in a figurative sense) The Doxie was
about 10 when I got her. Another Rescue. No one wanted her due to
her age, losing most of her teeth, (the Vet bills on the
dentistry could have been a lot higher, but my Vet is a sucker
for the old ones as well<G>) and her cataract, and the Pyr Shep
will soon be twelve.(the Pyrshep has Cushings Disease) Their
golden years are some of the best. When it is time for each one
of mine to cross over, I am always there for them, holding them
in my arms so that they know they are loved. Even with all the
heartbreak that goes along with losing a cherished friend, I
would not have given up one moment with them to have spared
myself those tears. The dogs have brought such joy to my life and
they have taught me so very much about life. Not the least of
which is to love humans unconditionally. (still working hard on
that one though!<G>)

Barb Bowes
Bo & Chelsea (Pyrs), Flopsy (Pyr Shep) & Machin (Doxie)
The more people I meet, the more I like my dog!
